Hi Jenny,
With regards to a hoof abscess I would highly recommend seeking a proper consultation from your local vet prior to any treatment.
Your vet may suggest removing any infected tissue with a hoof knife before applying a poultice to the area. This will help to draw any pus and infection. Your horse may also require a dose of antibiotics to clear up the infection.
