  • Abamectin is a broad-spectrum treatment which is highly effective against mature and immature worm parasites on most Australian farms including against strains of Ostertagia resistant to ivermectin.
  • The use of WSD ABAMECTIN or WSD ABAMECTIN PLUS SELENIUM is particularly indicated in strategic programs to reduce contamination of pastures when the uptake of worm larvae is low.
  • Consider using other WSD drenches, particularly WSD COMBINATION, if the objective is to treat a worm infestation on pastures known to be moderately or heavily contaminated with worm larvae.
  • Abamectin is NOT effective against tapeworms.
  • The use of sodium selenate in an oral drench may provide an animal’s requirements for up to 4 weeks after administration. In circumstances where severe selenium deficiency occurs, additional sources of selenium may be required.
  • If selenium levels in soils and pastures are known to be adequate or especially if above normal levels, WSD ABAMECTIN without selenium should be used.
  • The repeated use of any ML drench is likely to result in the emergence of resistance in worm parasites and therefore, regular testing for efficacy is recommended.
